Never Say Never Again

I do not yet have anything in my collection for this movie, other than this single release of the title song.
No matter how you felt about the final product once released, if you were a fan of the Sean Connery years you were excited to hear that he was going to once again play the role of James Bond in Never Say Never Again.  Unless, of course, your name was Cubby Broccoli.  Connery was the actor who defined the role and for many was still (and will probably always remain) the embodiment of Agent 007; even the fans of Roger Moore had to admit to Connery's retaining a part of the title of Bond, James Bond even though he had passed on the acting job to others.  There was a feeling that the rightful heir to the title was returning in his signature role to wear his crown one more time, and most fans anticipated an even matchup between Connery in Never Say Never Again and Roger Moore in Octopussy.  Sadly, it turned out to be less than a fair fight.  For a variety of legal and logistical reasons, Never Say Never Again was the inferior product delivered, and no matter how much pleasure one may have gotten from seeing Connery don the 007 tux again, Roger Moore and Octopussy won the day in every way you could compare the two films - proving that nobody does James Bond better than the Broccoli family producers.  Their belief that the film character and franchise are bigger than any one actor seems justified.
