Die Another Day

This website is designed to be a display of my 007 Collection, not a movie review website.  However, as I have written positively about my favorite movies (Goldfinger, Thunderball and Casino Royale) it only seems fair to also indicate my opinion about those movies for which I have negative feelings.  So here goes: In my opinion, Die Another Day is the worst entry in the Bond film franchise.  The script is devoid of a single good plot idea.  The director was ill-suited to make a sophisticated action film.  This was Brosnan's worst effort at Bond, and the director/producers seemingly could not decide if this was a Bond movie or a Jinx movie.  And speaking of Jinx, Halle Berry turned in an awful performance.  Who were the idiots pushing a follow-up Jinx movie?  Thank goodness Daniel Craig and Casino Royale came along to stop the Jinx madness and to literally save the film franchise from absurdity and irrelevance.  In the future, do not give the title song performer a role in the film - the whole Madonna thing was a distracting stunt.  I watched Die Another Day only twice, and the second time was only because I could not believe it was as poor of a film as I had perceived on my first viewing.  However, I was wrong; it was that bad and I shall not watch the movie another time.  But one good thing did come from this movie - I was introduced to the actress Rosamund Pike, and I have enjoyed seeing her career grow and I look forward to those movies in which she appears.  Despite my distaste for Die Another Day, I have collected a few items related to the film.

A 'frozen' champagne flute used in the filming of scenes in the Ice Palace.  This particular piece was used for set dressing and was damaged slightly in filming.

From Factory Entertainment, a display of the old and the new - replicas of the breathers used by Sean Connery in Thunderball and Pierce Brosnan in Die Another Day.  A limited edition, my prop is number 96 of 312.

Another superb fan-made replica prop from TheSpyBoys.com, this is the Vauxhall Cross Station Key.  Operating out of an abandoned Tube station, M meets Bond there (after summoning him with the delivery of a copy of the key) to discuss his reinstatement in (and renewed usefulness to) MI6.

The front and back covers of 'high life', the British Airways in-flight magazine.  This special cover was used for set dressing for filming, as only a few of the complete magazines were made.
