Moonraker

HOLLY GOODHEAD'S POISON PEN

In Moonraker, Lois Chiles plays Holly Goodhead, an undercover CIA agent who carries spy gadgets with her.  One of those is this vintage Parker brand gold metal pen modified for spy use. Seen in the film when Roger Moore's Bond examines several spy gadgets Goodhead is carrying, the pen can be configured in two ways. The first configuration is as an FX prop with a spring-loaded, retractable needle. The second configuration is with a sharp, static needle. The original prop, shown below left, has remained in very good condition over the ensuing 40+ years since the movie was filmed. It is a very special original prop in my Bond collection.

WRIST DART GUN
Another prop by SD Studios, the Moonraker wrist dart gun.  Comes complete with the 10 screen-accurate darts.  My piece is lacking the numbered plaque but this is clearly from SD Studios.  I have the original instructions from SD Studios that were supplied with the replica.

FACTORY ENTERTAINMENT LASER RIFLE
Another replica from Factory Entertainment.  The Company has emphatically stated that they could not produce anything that shoots, and this replica of the Laser Rifle from Moonraker is consistent with that.  The prop is a heavy resin model of the item seen in the film, and the prop has no functioning or moving parts.  It is just a big, static display without the clear plastic covers on their other props.  Limited to 500 pieces, mine is number 58.

This is an original Drax Enterprise Corporation patch worn on a Moonraker shuttle space suit.  The patch has a few cracks showing in the center decal, due to handling and age.

This is a fan-made replica of the toxin vial from Moonraker.  The vials were made by scientists in Venice, Italy for Hugo Drax as part of his master plan to kill all life on Earth.  James Bond (Roger Moore) witnessed the effects of the toxin as it choked two scientists to death.  The vial has two blocks at either end, held together by an aluminum core.  Three clear acrylic rods run between the blocks, and metal cones also line the interior.  The prop is finished in silver and black, with red striping at one end.  It is a well-made, authentic-looking prop.

Bollinger Moonraker Tribute

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of Moonraker, Bollinger elected to pay tribute to their shared heritage with James Bond, and revisit the space shuttle created by legendary production designer Ken Adam. Crafted from

pewter and wood veneer, encasing a Saint Louis crystal ice bucket, is a magnum of Bollinger 2007, the Bond vintage par excellence. Each numbered piece has been crafted and finished by hand, making it unique with just 407 being made.  Mine is number 234.  This item is very large and impressive!

Fan-made replica prop of the micro-camera used by Bond while taking pictures of the plans for Drax's poison vials.  The camera includes the '007' identifier.

In 2008, Swatch released its Villain Collection of watches.  This watch, commemorating Moonraker, is named for Hugo Drax.  I found the design and coloring of the face to be intriguing, and I especially like having the 'Drax Enterprise Corporation' name displayed.

From AeroClassics, a limited edition replica of the Lockheed L-188 Electra cargo plane used to transport the poison gas vials from Rio de Janeiro.  The transport planes were owned by Drax Enterprise Corporation and operated by Drax Air Freight.  My model is number 58 of 120.

The James Bond Collectors Club produced the postcard shown at left.  It depicts the Corgi 'Moonraker' Space Shuttle made exclusively for special guests at the film's Royal Premiere in London in 1979.
